What is TABATA?

A challenging, time-efficient workout that combines intervals of strength and/or cardio interval training. The protocol was devised by Dr. Izumi Tabata, National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Japan and tested on Olympic speed skaters.

Traditional interval training usually follows a work:rest ratio.  Tabata training utilizes a ratio of 2:1 (20 seconds of intense work followed by 10 seconds of rest that is repeated 8 times for a total of 4 minutes.

Using current HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) research and metabolic profiling, you’ll learn how 4 minutes of the 20-10 microburst interval training in TABATA can yield the same anaerobic and cardiovascular health benefits as 60 minutes of standard aerobic training. TABATA training burns up to 5X more calories after exercise than calories burned during exercise.
